This theme based program is developmentally appropriate for older toddlers as well as school age children. It is evident that both woman have a strong background in early childhood along with incredible creative and artistic talent that allows the children to openly explore the many activities that > are presented to enhance this literacy based program. "Fictional Faces goes beyond traditional face painting with a creative flair that children love." Dinean Wolfe
I have known Mary and Joanne of Fictional Faces professionally for over the past several years. When they first arrived at the Family Network to do a workshop on Polar Bear, Polar Bear, a well-known Eric Carle book, I was absolutely amazed at the amount of preparation and thought they had put into their presentation. They thought of EVERYTHING ! From the crystal sparkling homemade play dough, the artificial snow complete with stuffed polar bears to the neat arts and crafts actives - everything mirrored the content of Carle?s story. Mary read the story with the confidence and ease of a well-seasoned preschool teacher and Joanne fashioned characters from the book on children?s faces or hands. How neat is that ?? The children had a wonderful time sampling all of the activities and the parents were proud to bring home the homemade goodies.
Both Joanne and Mary have an approachable manner that puts everyone at ease. Both parents and children were enveloped in the magic web of storytelling that Fictional Faces wove.
In this day and age of tight budgets you could not spend your money better than to have Fictional Faces visit you school, library or party. Arlene A. Smith, Coordinator
Watertown Family Network
Children's librarians won't want to miss out on all the reading fun that Fictional Faces has to offer your library programming experience. What a talented team! Mary reads an exciting story and her sister Joanne reinforces the story through face painting, such a creative blend. The children really are thrilled that they get to wear the story home, remembering the program long after they leave the library. We can't wait for their next visit! Carol McFadden |
